Effect of 2 SATA Dives with Different Speeds?

I have installed a 5400 rpm SATA hard Drive. I am disappointed in my video TV function and want to add a 7200 rpm HD, to bettter handle Vista and my pci-e video functions.

Will the 5400 drive slow down the system to the speed of the 7200 ? I am correct in thinking the drives will act independently in transfer speeds?

Thanks.
It is what I expected.
However I should say I posed the same question on AOL and was told the the speed would slow down to the 5400.
I tend to trust this forum a wee-bit more.............

AOhWell, isn't exactly where you want to go for technical advice.😉 And yes, as long as you aren't trying to run the two drives in RAID 0, they will both operate at their optimum speeds.
