I believe its ___ trigger or ___ switch, and I think it starts with an 'r'. It would be for use in odemetry to trigger the switch each time the wheel rotated.
 
lol. I typed magnetic switch and magnetic relay and didnt come up with anything related to reed switches. I'm all kinds of retarded today.
