EEEEEEEEEEK!

Rubycon

I know I should've been using a screen protector! :|

The screen has two scratches over an inch long from rubbing on a necklace. 🙁

They are deep enough to feel with a fingernail. Short of getting the plastic cover replaced, is there anything that can be done to make the scratched less noticeable?

A 4 figure camera destroyed by a soccer mom.

Go Girl!

Nothing can easily make the scratches go away.

However, if it indeed has a plastic cover; that would be the best fix.

Easy and not expensive fix. Call Canon. I have been told not to bother with the screen protectors because they are hard to scratch, and easy to replace.

If you understood it why the hell did you say it made no sense?

I think you need to get in on some Comprehensive English classes.

Destroyed? Hardly! The camera works fine. 🙂

But yes having that scratch is like having a scratch on a Krell. It doesn't affect the sound, but everyone will see it. 😉

um, no. foghorn67's post was technically poor. foghorn67's use of "they" implied foghorn67 was talking about "screen protectors", the subject of the sentence. thus it becomes, "I have been told not to bother with the screen protectors because screen protectors are hard to scratch, and easy to replace", thus making no sense so lay off.

I keep the clear plastic protector on my D200 at all times; it doesn't affect the visibility of the screen, and protects it from scratches very well. It would seem that Canon would also include a similar screen protector with the camera, though if it's too obtrusive, you could find a third party screen protector (perhaps from Hoodman).

i wasn't talking to you

You probably didn't actually scratch the LCD, just the plastic lcd covering. It should be a cheap user-replaceable part. I had to take off the plastic covering on my Rebel XT because there was a bunch of dust between it and the screen. Used a big suction cup and it came off.

Nikon's plastic snap-ons are plastic covers for the plastic LCD cover, as in don't hit that unless you double bag it.

Yes that's correct - the plastic over the LCD is scratched. The flip up's look nice too. 🙂

As a magnanimous gentleman, I have no choice but to offer you my scratch-free 350D and take your horrible 5D as a small token of gratitude...
