eee 1000H, 1080p LCD, "virtual resolution"

I have an eee 1000H (running eeebuntu) and a Thinkpad T60 (running ubuntu, to be sold) and 1080p 23" LCD.

With the T60 (ati graphics), I can use the external monitor at full resolution and compiz works fine.

Not so with the Eee. When I want to use the full res of my LCD, it says I need to set the virtual resolution and that I should log out then in again. Using this virtual resolution disables compiz, so I restored the xorg.conf backup.

Anyone know if theres a way I can get the Eee to use the external LCD at full res with compiz? I asked in the eee forums and got nada, googled a little and didnt find anything that I thought was helpful :-/

Thanks!

This is an issue with the maximum virtual resolution that compiz can hanle for the netbook graphics chip (Intel GMA950). This can be solved (worked around) by changing the positioning of the external monitor.
You could read my post about this issue : http://www.geekytalk.snaga.net/2010/...-handling.html
