Hi,

I took a circuit analysis lab class this Fall and have just finished it. While taking this class, my lab prof told us the basic principle behind cable descramblers (the lab experiment at that time was band pass filters). So, I decided to apply my newly discovered EE knowledge and make myself a cable descrambler from scratch. What I'm asking is: is this task going to be a tough one? I think of this "project" more as educational than immoral. Also, I could show my friends and they would think of me as a cool "EE".

Just for a theoretical discussion.

It depends on the type of scrambling that your cable company uses. A common type is a interference signal that needs to be removed. A notch filter is appropriate in that case.

You might want to do a search on saw filters. It has to be a very tight notch.
