John Edwards finally gets it!! :D

<snip>
...the senator from North Carolina said he is convinced that voters "need leaders who are running for president who aren't talking about what's wrong, but talking about what we together can do to make it right. And I think that's the component I absolutely believe will decide this election at the end of the day."
...
"...as long as we're not getting people inspired and excited about what we can do for this country, we will not win this election."
...
"It is true that you can get Democratic activists on their feet cheering much more quickly bashing George Bush than any other way," Edwards said. "But remember, we're going through a process here and people are looking for a president. They're not looking for somebody who can just beat up George Bush. They're looking for someone who can inspire them and lead them."
...
He said southerners resent "somebody looking down on them" and want "someone who they believe treats them with respect." The Confederate flag remark showed that Dean "did not understand that," Edwards said.
"You can't continue to talk like that," he added. "It won't work. I mean, I think there's a danger associated with the elitism in the Democratic Party that has that approach and attitude."
</snip>

Did he "get it" too late? Will this "wake-up" the "angry" or just be dismissed by them?

Good in theory but negative campaigns are often more effective.

So it's a matter of making Bush seem sooooo bad that people will vote for a Democrat. Wouldn't it be better to try to have people vote on your ideas instead of how well you "hate" the opponent? How do people know what you are FOR when all you jabber about it how much you are against what the other guy does?

Yeah, Cad, you're right. Here's an idea. Beating up on people because you're stronger and thinking you can make the world run your way sucks! How's that for a positive attitude?

It's kind of hard to argue why Bush should be "fired" if you don't actually address his numerous failures, deceits, half truths, etc.
It's all relative, so showing that you are better than Bush or showing that Bush is worse than you is the same thing.

You're absolutely right CAD. I'm getting tired of all the candidates wasting their money to make each other look bad. In the end, they're all gonna look like crap and the people are going to see Bush as the lesser evil

Though I don't understand how reaching out to a group of people who aren't exactly politically correct is the same as being elitist. But thats a whole nother topic...

I don't doubt he would make a better President than Bush but John Edwards shouldn't have run for President. He has luke warm support (at best) in North Carolina.

As for emphasizing the positive, you cannot claim Operation Iraqi Freedom was a humanitarian campaign when we scarcely got off the boat in Liberia.

Edwards is the best candidate in my opinion. I love hearing this kind of stuff, and he has the most thorough, detailed plan of any of the candidates so far.
