I am building a coouple of computers for the kiddies from some old computers that i have laying around. Made the switch to ubuntu for myself, considering edubuntu for the kiddies computers. Any reason not to?

Is there a way to password protect the internet on ubuntu, I want to allow very limited access to the net on their computers, but It will be connected to the home network.

They are going to be older computers, what about Xubuntu?
