A couple of years ago I set up a little network for an after school program. We had 6 w2k boxes hooked to a switch hooked to verizon dsl modem router combo, everything worked well. Since that time they let some kids play and a couple of the boxes have xp on them now and the mcaffee software is no were to be found. Also in the mean time a local kid broke into the place and had a good time looking at porn. The center is ran by a local church for these kids and they would rather not have kids looking at porn,

So fast forward to now, The guy who delivers office supplies to use is able to get us bunches of 1.7ghz celeries, with i think 512meg of ram, but they have no hard drives. They were pulled so that they can be destroyed. I am looking to recreate my network running linux, ubuntu and maybe edubuntu running the machines as thin clients. Ideally we would be able to have some sort of parental controls, while not fool proof it would slow them down some. The kids aren't going to be unsupervised (unless of course they break in). Or would it be better to have like a monowall router and just run ubuntu on the boxes after we get hard drives (which i think I can get funding for). Thought suggestions, Windows is not an option at this point.
