did this movie preceed most of this reality TV?? or was it just parodying a trend?

Yep, I remember seeing it and thinking "who would want to watch some schmoe's life on TV?" Guess a lot of people!
OREO: It's pretty good. It suffered at the box office because it was released around the same time as The Truman Show.

It came out a year after The Truman Show.

ya, it was compared to truman show a lot, but i thought it had enough differences to be good on it's own.

Sorry. It was released within a year of The Truman Show, which was up for multiple Oscars at the time EdTV was released.

actually, there is an albert brooks movie older than both about filming a family. i think it was called "real life" or something.
its seems more accurate (and funny) than those other two combined.
albert brooks = happiness.

Prophetic, not at all, I believe MTV's Real World was one of the first "reality" shows and it came out way before EdTV.
