will EDO simms work in all mobos with simm slots? i want to make sure before i order some for this poor guy with an ancient pentium166 rig that only has 4mb of ram, gonna replace with 4x64MB EDO Simms provided that i think it will be supported

I have not seen the motherboard so i cant give info on that. He lives about an hour away from me.

EDO SIMMs will not work in any system, but if it's a Pentium 166, it probably will. EDO memory generally does not work in 486 systems but even then there are exceptions.

Be careful, most Pentium MB can accept SIMM module of 32MB max. Check his MB manual.
I have couple of Pentium PCs laying around with maximum memory of 32MB x 4 = 128MB

I would not make that assumption.

There were many 166's that did not support EDO. There were many that only supported EDO. There were many that used proprietary memory.
