EDO and SDRAM compatibility

If I remember correctly, you are not supposed to use both types of RAM at the same time on these boards. Something to do with the fact that the voltages are different between the 2 types of RAM. If you can find the manual or look it up on Intel's web site it should tell you definitively.

Huh? Anyway, if a products says its not compatible with something, then it's not compatible with it. I don't think you can mix EDO and SDRAM either.

I think only the TX and HX chipsets supported SDRAM. I will double check.

Also you can only use either or.

Either SDRAM or EDO, you can not use both.

The 440FX shipset was the old triton chipset if I remember corectly. One of the first pentium chipsets out there. It did not support SDRAM. It only support fastpage mode, EDO, and BEDO ( burst EDO )

440 FX chipset documentation

Adul, you are correct. I just checked in this huge computer book I have out of the library, and the 440FX chipset only supported FPM and EDO RAM. It looks like the 440LX was the first Intel chipset to support SDRAM.
