Edmund's TMV Pricing

So I looked up a used car. Edmunds gives 3 prices. Trade-in, Private Party, and Dealer Retail. The car I'm interested in is at a dealer. What price should I pay?

Don't just pay what they are selling it for. If they want $10,000 for it start real low. Lowball the hell out of them. Shop around.

Depends on the car. If it's something hot, the dealer is not going to deal, because he knows he can move it. What's the car?

Not so hot, so there should be room to deal. Are you paying cash, or financing? You aren't trading in a car, are you?

Yes, I plan on trading in my '96 V6 Mustang. It's got some problems and needs a paint job.

That sucks, because he's going to try to screw you with your trade. What's the value of your car on Edmunds?
