Well here you go. For all you Evo lovers out there. They test the new Evo X GSR model. The biggest difference in this model is that the GSR comes with a 5sp manual.

Edmunds

Like many of us have said, it's the trend for cars now to be heavier because of all the new safety mandates and electronics people want in their cars today. They have a comparison of the Evo IX MR numbers and the Evo X GSR numbers. Evo X beats the Evo IX by 0.2sec up to 75mph which is most likely when the much extra heft of the Evo X slows it down bad. The Evo X does handle better though and is better put together but you are not going to get that raw feeling that the evo gave you. I am just a little dissapointed.

Evo X
0-30 mph: 1.7 seconds
0-45 mph: 3.1 seconds
0-60 mph: 4.9 seconds
0-75 mph: 7.2 seconds
Quarter-mile: 13.6 seconds at 101.3 mph

30-0 mph: 28 feet
60-0 mph: 112 feet

600-foot slalom: 70.7 mph
200-foot skid pad: 0.99g

Evo IX
0-30 mph: 1.8 seconds
0-45 mph: 3.3 seconds
0-60 mph: 4.9 seconds
0-75 mph: 7.4 seconds
Quarter-mile: 13.3 seconds at 103 mph

30-0 mph: 28.6 feet
60-0 mph: 115.8 feet

600-foot slalom: 70.7 mph
200-foot skid pad: 0.93g

Edmunds is exaggerating a bit on the speed difference... The newer model corners and stops better according to this test while weighing 300lbs more. Good job mitsu

Pork, it's what's for dinner. Evo needs to lay off tonkatsu donburi and shed some pounds.

more civilized and just as quick. i don't see a problem here (except for the increased price tag, but i guess new technologies costs money).

I think they state the Evo X MUCH SLOWER or something to that effect.

Pretty insignificant if you look at the car as a whole.

Eh numbers don't tell the entire story. Perhaps the X feels much slower than the IX which is pretty likely considering the trend towards heavier and "more comfortable" cars. There is nothing like popping into a car from the early 90s or late 80s to feel the mechanicalness of a car...

This is probably just me, but it really feels like recent trends are to make a car bigger and bigger until you can slot a whole new car under it.
