Edmunds: Sirius v. XM

Does not matter who is better, like the Vhs vs Beta war, it matters who is out there and easiest to get to. Right now that is XM. They are in factory Honda and GM cars/trucks, maybe even others.

The ONLY thing that will help keep Sirius alive is Stern. If you like him or not, people listen to him and when he goes un-rated, I think people will pay for that. Without stern, I would have given Sirius 1-3 years.

But I think XM has a large lead and more options to get to it.

Um, Sirius = NFL games...I'm seriously considering the $500 lifetime service, its an incredible deal after 3 years, the catch might be how long they exist...

I've only got two real beefs against Sirius - which I do in fact subscribe too...

1) GET A SMALLER TUNER....siriusly...the big ass clunky things put out right now can't compete with the small and sleek hardware made by the XM vendors.

2) Stop jerking us around with programing. Maxim radio in particular. Really now...you said it would be available 6 months ago...it's STILL not working. Don't allocate bandwith until you know your stations are lit to go.

Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints against Sirius. I  my service subscription.

They will always exist. Like Pepsi and Coke

Sirius is ok, doesn't work underground. Good channel selection, music quality is good as well. I've used them in a number of different vehicles and haven't had any problems.

Agreed. Same thing happend with Direct TV and one of their competitors a while back. One will win out and take over the other. Either way I'm happy I went with XM.

I've heard a lot of complaining about the repetition in the playlists for the music stations for Sirius.

I'm a huge NFL fan, but I don't think I can listen to games on the radio. MLB is a different story however (which XM will carry every MLB game starting next season).

I'm happy I went XM, both services are worlds better than listening to commercial radio IMO.

I was just browsing the Crutchfield catalog (while on the shitter of course) and a few of those Sirius tuners looked to be pretty small to me. <shrug>

1. Have you seen the Sportster, Xact, or the gen 2.5 JVC? The Sportster is the same size as the SkyFi, the Xact and JVC are the size of a cell phone.
2. I've heard that Siriuis is ready...it's Maxim that's dragging thier feet.

For me, the selling point was sports, and commercial free music. I joined back in the day of NHL and NBA play-by-play, then they added the NFL, as well as college football and basketball (including the NCAA tourney)...they've even got English soccer now.

I don't think XM would work underground either...
