Vehicle Tested:
2006 Pontiac G6 GTP 2dr Convertible (3.9L 6cyl 4A)
MSRP of Test Vehicle: $31,740 Price It!!

What Works:
Attractive exterior and interior styling, comfortable seats, quiet convertible top operation.

What Needs Work:
Interior detail execution, difficult access to rear seat, compromised cargo volume, flexible chassis and poor suspension tuning.

Bottom Line:
The G6 convertible is two cars in one, but the compromise is inadequate cargo space.

i agree that a 5 or 6 speed should be standard.. but is there *really* a point to a 7 or 8 speed except on uber sport cars?

How the heck do they make such a big engine with so little HP? I thought they might've gave it a lot of torque to make up for the lack of HP, but it doesn't even have a lot of torque. On top of that, it's heavy, front wheel drive, and has a sh!tty 4speed automatic. Well it's a chick's car, so that probably doesn't matter to girls. But $31k? GM is fvcked in the head.

actually i agree with NFS4... i think the mustang GT convertible makes the most sense. it's reasonably reliable, cheap, lots of torque and power, and you can hear that sweet V8 when you put your top down.

but i just realized the G6 is a hardtop and that's why it's so expensive. the EOS is $36k but i guess if you really want a 4-seater hard-top convertible (an almost non-existent market), i'd still take the EOS.

GM is indeed behind the car there. But they are skipping 5-speed and going straight to 6-speed.

The EOS starts at $29,990

So how many 4-seat hard top convertibles are out there now? This one, the 3-series, the C70, and I think VW has one?

Come on...too mcuh competition for the price range. Honda S2k, VW Eos, Audi TT, Z4, Mustang.....

I'll take anything listed above over this car...

"Attractive exterior"? Sorry mate....the competition just look a whole lot better IMHO.

This car makes a good rental at best.

Of all the cars you mentioned, only one is a 4-seater. The Eos, Mustang, Solara and Eclipse are about the only competition this car has.

Well, I'll take the Mustang over this any time of the day. (if I have to have some fake backseat)

Ohh, the BMW 3 series is coming with a hardtop convertible...it's a little out of the price range, but consider the 50k free maintenance and European delivery...it just doesn't make this car a very attractive option.
