It amazes me all the awards and accolades the VW Passat receives despite it's questionable build quality and reliability.

Yeah, and their crappy dealers/service shops.

Yep

If VW cleaned up their act and had a proven track record (5 years of data comparable to Honda/Toyota, heck even Nissan) then I will GLADLY buy a Passat.

I'd hate to fork over $25k knowing there is a possibility it will be a lemon.

I think a German vehicle won almost every category in which one was eligible.
I'm also surprised the Nissan Titan won for best large pickup with Dodge #2... no new F-150 in sight. :Q

Comment under the Nissan Titan at the top:
"Forget everything you thought you knew about the full-size truck."

Damn, and I knew full size trucks should have beefy axles.

(screw the Hemi, I want a Cummins!)

I'm surprised Honda Pilot isn't on the SUV list... that's kinda odd. I went to a few VW dealers looking at Touregs and while they are truly awesome vehicles- they're expensive and they have some on the lots sitting around. I can't find a Honda Dealer who has more than 1 pilot on their lot for sale, and they never negotiate under MSRP because of the demand. I've been trying dealers out of state up to 500 miles.

These want lists only prove to me that desiring something vs. actually having to live with it can often be a mistake. This applies to women, cars and anything else that is considered desirable by the self-proclaimed in crowd.

Yup. Which is why for every Passat I see, I probably see 20 Camrys or Accords. I like Passat's, but I've just never understood what the big deal is.

It got the honorable mention in the SUV under $35K category.
