Editors and/or English/Journalism majors?

Well, for me, career is only incidental to the process. I.e., it's not my ultimate goal or primary reason for getting the degree. But I'd like to edit science fiction manuscripts. I'm sure I'll end up doing something less interesting though.

I was thinking of getting an English degree and becoming an editor too. I'd love to edit fantasy and sci-fi stuff since I can't seem to write it myself, but I'm just wondering how difficult it is to get into that kind of field. I wouldn't mind being an editor of a magazine though.

If you know of any website where editors congregate or offer info, let me know.
