I have a basic XP Pro machine that is a file server for the other 3 systems. It holds about 100gbs of ripped CD's. I use WMP10 to play all my music. I notice under some artists the classified names are slightly different like :
The Smashing Pumpkins
Smashing Pumpkins
So if I edit them in WMP10 on the clients systems and get them all organized and renamed so they show up in one group the way I would like. But then on my other two client systems they do not see the edited info. So I take it when I edit albums in WMP10 it's only changing the info in WMP10 not on the actual file. I did find where I could edit albums info but I don't think that is saving the edited info to the actual file saved on the basic file server.
What would best way to edit my music files so they are organized but are saved on the file itself so whenever I hook up another system or reformat , the files come back the way I want since they are edited not in the Media Player software but at the file level.
Ideas?
