OK if I want to enable save games at any point I need to do this:

Just add -DEVMODE to the end of the executable command line

So my command line looks like this:
"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe"

Presumably I am supposed to do this?

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe -devmode"

However, each time I attempt this I get an error message of:
The name "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe] -devmode" specified in the Target box is not valid Make sure the path and file name are correct.

Any idea what gives?

:brokenheart:

You have to put the -devmode after the "" marks. Like so:

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -devmode

Not:

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe -devmode"

And from what I remember, you also have to alter one of the config files as well.

Is that the one that has all the big ass monsters everywhere and you basically have to run between them to get through? That part is insane.

No problem.

And BTW, your not the only one. I played through on Normal, and quite simply had to cheat to keep having fun with the game. Otherwise I would have got frustrated and quit. But I only used the quick save cheat, and the weapon/ammo cheats, not god mode.

Same here but no weapon/ammo cheats. I'm older and my reflexes aren't what they once were, the point is to have fun and "cheating" in single player hurts no one, so I do it without a second thought.

I just can't wait to see Far Cry 2. Does anybody know if Operation Snow Blind (name?) came from the same group?

Yeah you open the doors to the wide open space and they just keep coming up the hill at you.

You have to hide in behind the wall and try to take them out as there are other snipers waiting for you in the middle of the ground out of sight.

I got all the way across after taking everybody out ONCE and then when the doors opened at the other side two big guys came out and blew me away with their rockets :(

I had virtually no life left so one graze and I was dead...sniff!

The change in command line has made no difference - I have the DVD version if that makes any odds?

Well guess what :D

I just finished Far Cry and did not use the devmode option after all.

Here is my tip:

Run out the door down to the rock where the big guy is coming up to.
Shoot him as you run down and then hide at the corner and he will try to blast you but will just hit the rock.

At the same time start taking out those guys that jump all over the place on the left-side bulding roof.

Then keep sneaking back and forth and take out the other guys that spring around on the right side building.

Keep the rock between yourself and the big guys as they come up the hill and use headshots only as thats all that kills them.

Eventually you will clear all of the big guys and there will be one or two remaining jumpers.

Make sure you clear them then make your way to the doors ;)

Worked for me :)

Game Over!
