By some freak of nature I have ended up with a Windows 2k boot menu with 3 entries: Windows (98), Windows 2000 Professional, and Windows XP Pro. The latter one (XP Pro) is a rogue entry that does not work. I want to delete it so how do I go about this?

I'm not sure about XP, but if you have 98 installed in one partition and install 2000 in the second partition, 2000 creates a file called boot.ini and places it at the root of the first partition. This is the boot menu you want to edit. You can use notepad. It is a hidden file with read-only attributes, so you want to remove the read-only once you show all system files. Just remove the line from the menu showing XP.
