Editing JPEG meta data

I've begun the painstaking process of digitizing my film pictures... it's a pain in the ass but the benefits are worth it to me. I use Adobe Photoshop Album to manage my digital collection, and when I started importing my scanned photos I realized I had a bit of a problem -- the date of the photos is obviously wrong, and while APA picks up the meta data in photos from digtal cameras to find the correct date, it doesn't work for scanned images. I thought maybe I could just click properties on the photos in Windows Explorer and set the correct date tag, but to my surprise that tag isn't there. Can someone recommend a way I might edit the JPEG meta data to add a proper date. Even better, I used a MMDDYY-Title format for all of my pictures, so something that could pick the date from the filename and write that to the meta data would be AWESOME!

Thanks,

seis

Well as far as I know, that extra data is referred to as EXIF. I don't know off hand what it means...EXtended INformation maybe? Check Google for an EXIF editor. Maybe one of them does the date-transfer thing, and has a batch command to do it to a lot of files at once.
