Editing Dates on Pictures

hey all, while on a trip to DC I forgot to set the date and time on my camera! I know roughly when I started so is there a way to kind of offset like a delta-time on each picture in a batch process? I really would like to set this up because according to the pics I went on jan 1 2004!

thanks in advance for your help

probably the "rename" command from the command line is gonna help you here.

I could maybe give you a specific anwer if you provide a couple filenames as examples.

Here's a shot in the dark in the meantime.

IMG_0001_Jan01-1984.jpg
IMG_0002_Jan01-1984.jpg
IMG_0003_Jan01-1984.jpg

could be corrected by:

ren *Jan01-1984.jpg *Oct24-2006.jpg

Hope that makes sense. If not, give us a couple bad filenames and I'll see if I can provide a specific command.

actually the file names are not the dates, they are just the numerical sequence of pic numbers. it is the embedded info in the picture properties that I need to change.

thanks for your reply tho
