Question editing a pdf - adding page numbers, or splitting it up?

We have an extremely LONG PDF file, a couple of hundred pages. We use it up on a smartboard to show lessons to our students.

Because there are no page numbers, it is difficult to find specific pages or lessons.

Also, because it is so very, very long, a tiny movement with the mouse or keyboard arrow buttons makes it jump a lot more than normal.
I've been wondering if it might be possible to split it up into 2, or even 3 separate PDF files....

But most helpful would be the ability to add page numbers to it, since there are none, and it is a headache to try to find lessons on it.

Can anyone suggest something that might be able to accomplish this? It would be a lot of manual work, but would really pay off day to day...

As far as splitting it up is concerned, if it isn't a fillable form you can just load it up in Acrobat Reader and then use a free PDF printer like CutePDF or Microsoft's Print to PDF printer to print ranges of pages to a new PDF file in to break it down into multiple smaller documents.

For page numbers, if the file size is less than 100MB you can try this Adobe online tool with a copy of the form:

The also have an online PDF editor, though I have never tried it:

Finally, for more extensive changes, they offer a free 7 day trial of Adobe Acrobat Pro on their website:
