Little help please...

1.5 year old Vizio 55" M550SV now has color vertical lines edge to edge.

Audio ok.

Images here: http://jaxehost.com/vizio/

Likely cause?

Happened after first cold night. Worked ok first 10 mins, then problem started.

Thank you in advance for your help and guidance.

John

Small chance it's a bad t-con board but the ones I have seen end up being a bad screen.

That really sucks. So is it just scrap now? (if it's the screen)

How do I test it?

Thanks,
John

BTW...

You do realize that this is an LED screen, not an LCD, right?

Would that make a difference?

no, the screen is LCD. The backlight is LED. Well, it's side lit so I am not even sure it should be called backlight anymore. That looks like problem with the horizontal control board.

Thanks...

This TV has two visible boards. The main board and the power supply board.

Where would the horizontal control board be located?

BTW... the TV would always take about 7-9 seconds to see ANYTHING come up on the screen. Now with the problem, you see the color lines within 1.5 to 2 seconds. Does that mean anything?

PS - Here are a few picture that may help:

probably the main board then. see if you can find someone selling the same tv with the broken panel and just swap out the board. assuming of course the other tv only has the broken panel or backlight. Definitely looks like the horizontal signal portion is messed up.

have you tried re-seating all the cables again? Taking care to let the capacitors drain before you touch anything.

Where did you get it? If you got it from Costco your Warranty should still be good....
