But honestly, don't look for the return in everything you do, expect nothing, that way everything you receive will be a gift.

He's not necessarily looking for something in return. He just wants the coworker to thank him and not just blow him off as if he did nothing to help.

Maybe when he gets older he'll realize that you did him a favor.. Maybe not, if he doesn't in 10 years from now and a party is being hosted in his honor, be sure to show up drunk on stage and rant about how a sorry loser he once was and how ungrateful he is.. :p
