I think ATers (most) are somewhat DUMB when compared to the general population of the world... They keep up with THIER VERSION OF current events and technology... have INmature arguements to prove their points AND ONLY CARE ABOUT THEIR POINT... know where to buy the cheapest stuff... Can even be highly technical when they need to BUT MOST NOT! Heck, we ATers' could take over world if we really wanted to YA RITE .

There is no doubt that great things happen here at ATOT (NOT)...

Just imagine what would the world be like if we ruled the world?:p
 :D

i'd have to say yes... being able to get on a computer, on a message board, AND being able to post is way beyond average intelligence... :D

HA! They had a Simpsons episode on what happens when geeks get power. It wasn't pretty :p

Oh yeah, so-called "AT-ers" certainly are with disinformation, introversion, bickering or acting snorty with petty things like labels/titles, and resorting to attacking people rather than prove their points.

I'm sorry, but only a fraction of members truly meet your criteria. The majority here certainly don't reflect the general population, but they are not any better. Only a few keep it with high diginity, with the hardware area fairing best.

You would hope so but its not really a fair comparison.

Tech geeks are usually in the upper percentile range when it comes to IQ. The same would go for any tech orientated website. In fact I would say that right now due to the huge popularity of this site the IQ is lower than other lower profile tech sites such as Ars Technica.

I have to agree with Finality. Arstechnica has more intelligent and mature thinking people there than AT presently does. But to be fair, AT still possesses more than average similar 'net forums do.

sometimes
knowing the answer to everything
does not constitute
being smart

i think i should change this topic to:

Are ATers less intelligent than the general population of the world?!

Sadly that is so true.

As far as the degenerate threads in OT (;)), I think a lot of ppl act like morons sometimes but that doesn't necessarily make them morons as in less intelligent. Like I think that ppl who don't think before they post have the capacity to think intelligently, but just don't sometimes. Gah! It's hard for me to explain but I hope you get my drift.

ATOTers are dumb enough to believe those online IQ tests where *everyone* scores "beyond genius" (.0001 of the population), so yeah we're "smart"

I find this so true. I find myself reading a thread and then writing out a big long reply and right before I push the button to post my reply I realize that what I'm about to post is stupid and isn't worth posting. I find myself doing this all the time. I write a reply and never actually post it because when I read it over before the final send off I realize that my input is stupid and worthless. Does anybody else find themselves doing this where you right out a reply to a post and then after you read it over realize that you don't want to post a reply after all.

so I gotta say that I totally agree with the above statement that some people post replys before they really think about what they are saying.
