Edit time bug

Vincent

Platinum Member
After a post is edited a message such as

Message edited by: XXXX on 09/21/2000 23:26:51

appears at the bottom of the post.

The day/time in the message does not account for different time zones and appears to be Eastern Time.

That is not a bug, we can only adjust times on db times that are inserted.. that is just an update to a field not an actual date.

Are you saying that because the edit day/time stamp is not dynamically generated, you can't adjust it for different time zones?

Clearly this isn't a life-threatening issue, but it seems inconsistent to me that the posting times are adjusted whereas the edit times are not. People not on the east coast who want to compare posting times and edit times may be misled. It might not be a bad idea to add "ET"/"EST"/"EDT" to the edit day/time stamp so that everthing is clear.

Vincent, no because the date is in a text field that is just a message. If I modify the date for you what aboue the 30,000 other users that view the message. Its a minor thing that isn't a big deal at all. The important thing is threads and message show the proper post time. For all intensive purposes the message WAS edited at the time it says.
