EDIT: Results are in! Taking test for my licenses soon... any tips?

Well, this coming Tuesday, I'm going to go take my licenses test. I've been lookin foward to this for a while. Any tips is recommended. I'm taking the FL Licenses test if that matters. Only things my friends have told me is... parking, 3 point turns, and the uphill/downhill parking. Any other weirdo things I should remember before taking the test? Tips on either of those things?

Thanks
Jonathan

EDIT:

I failed.

I did everything pretty well, I forgot the blinker a few times, though that was no biggy. I failed because backing out of the cones, I knocked one over pretty good. Other than those things, near perfect driving. My biggest fear was going inside the cones, and it still kinda is. Backing out should have been easier than going in, but I turned the wheel too quickly and knocked a cone over. But damn that parking space is small!

Oh well, life is life. I'm going back in tomorrow morning to take the test again. Hopefully since I know how the test operates, I'll learn, and pass it this time.

Any more tips is appericated.

Thanks
Jonathan

Yeah, look over your shoulder always, don't use your mirrors because they can be "deceiving". Also, come to a complete stop at any stop signs, I drifted through mine. Know where all the lights and sh!t are. I didn't know where the highbeams were (I'm so FVCKING stupid for not knowing it) and use your turn signals entering and exiting the parallel parking stall.

Best of luck, I still haven't passed it.

Turn signal EVERYTHING. Look on ALL turns, even if you are just moving right to make a right turn onto another road.

Don't fail.

lol, other then that just drive. Don't be nevous. Check your blind spots, stop at stop signs, etc etc. Its not hard.

When you first get in the car, first thing you do is put the key in the ingintion (don't turn it), buckel up, fix seat, mirrors etc, foot on break, start the car, put it in drive, take hand break off, and listen to what he has to say.

I already passed my written test (91 w00t), and my road test is on 6/30. I think I will pass, and am already following all the recommendations posted here. Just remember to always signal, look, etc... Drive with two hands, and don't drive too cautiously. They can and do fail if you are too cautious (like driving too far under the speed limit). Wear your seat belt. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips.... Luckily for me, Florida law doesn't require Parallel parking 🙂

I should basically be the "perfect" driver. Always checking everything and being cautious everywhere.... any other tips?

Thanks
Jonathan

Slow down for a yield sign. I failed once because of that.

It was uber gay, it was a rural street with no cars in sight and I had my foot covering the break. Not to mention I was already going like half the speed limit, but the instructor required that you actually pressed the brake, and not just cover it.

I passed first time... this is what i did:

~Take turns at LEAST at 35 mph.
~After each red light or stop light. FLOOR IT.
~If you're cruising along, and you're about to pass a light, and if it's yellow, no matter how long its been yellow, FLOOR IT.
~Always 20 over the limit.
~Seat so far back, you can't see if a car is front of u or not.
~ Hold you're steering wheel in a gangster manner.

As soon as you get in the car, slip him a $20. Use the e-brake around turns so you can get through it faster.

I did that in college in the winter. Wrecked the hell out of my rear brakes...

it was fun though. 😀

When turning through an intersection, make sure you don't cut it short. Go out a ways and then turn. Always keep both hands on the wheel. Don't give up the right of way. Obey the speed limit to the letter of the law, or even slower. Also remember that the speed limit starts at the sign so if you have to slow down, make sure you're going the new speed limit at that sign and when speeding up, start speeding up at the sign. Slow down and look both ways real fast at RR crossings and pedestrian crossings. When coming to an intersection where you will turn, put your signal on before you get to the intersection, 100 feet back I think.
I just took the test if you haven't figured that out. These are things pointed out to me during my first and second tries. I passed the second time.

Drive BELOW the speed limit. I drove the speed limit on my test, and he failed me for going too fast. Seriously.
Stop AT the stop sign (or line), then pull up further if you can't see around the corner.
Pay ATTENTION. I stopped too quickly at a stop sign because I couldn't see it hidden behind a tree. If you can, go early and drive the course by yourself (if they use the same route every time)

Should my "caution" (looking both ways, doing all the safety stuff) be exaggerated so he/she notices? Or should I go about it normally?

EDIT: Thanks so far for the replies guys! I really wanna pass it on my first try. My biggest worry is the parking. I hear its super tiny and hard to get into.

you only need to drive perfectly once.Once u get the licences you can drive anyway you like. So just hit the pedal to the medal as soon as he get in the car and he will pass you with no problem

Oh and be very nice to the instructor no matter how menacing he/she is.

For example,

Hello Sir/Mam.

Thank you very much Sir/Mam.

All my test was (this is in FL):
Pull out of parking space and onto course.
Go straight, stop at stop sign, back up, then go straight again.
3 point turn (the road is extra wide and there are freaking arrows painted on the ground that tell you exactly where to go)
And turn into a parking space (there were 4 cones, and you had very little room, but I was fine in my Civic.,. might have been tough with a big car)

Anyway, I passed with a 100% 😀

Cool. Where did you take yours at? I see you live in Orlando, I live in Kissimmee. I took mine at the DMV on Orange Blossom Trail.

Mine was just about the same thing, with a few extra steps here and there, a "quickstop", and this whole Backing up straight thing. I was driving my Mom's Cavalier.

Took mine at the DMV in Winter Park.

I took my driving test 7 years in Los angels and your test sound harder then the one I took. First we didn't have any cones. Basically we parked on a street and then had to backup without hitting anything for very small distance. 3 point turns also not part of our test. Was the test always this hard in the east?
