So, even though the comic/TV show discussion is over, and I completely get why people don't want to be spoiled...

Do the people who don't want to be spoiled actually expect their fellow man to respect spoiler/boundary issues given that every single TV/movie thread devolves into "thanks a lot asshole for the spoilers"?

Ya know, the same people whom you all respect enough to call assholes/various names, tell off on the anonymous interwebs...

I mean, I get where you're coming from, but it's like walking onto a highway and expecting not to be hit by a car.

I suppose eventually the mods can deal with it, but I would hope that people would be smart enough to police themselves over such a simple thing before getting a note from a mod.

The problem being is it seems a lot of people can’t separate the comics from the show. They’re constantly comparing the two and don’t stop to think before posting. I don’t think that’ll ever change. I don’t disagree the comic talk should at least be spoiler tagged as it might help explain points people don’t understand so well. Of course that’ll do nothing for what this thread really has turned into, picking part every f**cking detail of the show to the point it’s ridiculous

You should have been around when we were analyzing "Lost"!

No one denied that there was discussion about the comics here. However, it has been decided that such talk is no longer welcome here (with mod blessing of that decision) and that ALL talk of the comics should go in the comics thread.

Stop being suck a douche.

MotionMan

Who's being a douche? I haven't posted any spoilers. I haven't even read the comics. I have been called all sorts of names in this thread and haven't said anything personal in retaliation or provocation.

I pointed out the original title of this thread, that the original content of this thread included talk about the comic, the fact that there is a thread dedicated to the tv show alone that pre-dates this thread, and did so by providing quotes, links, and evidence.

Yet I get called a douche.

I enjoy the cross-talk about the comic and the tv show and the comparisons between the two. To me, that's what this thread is about.

You can have a tv-show only thread - there is one.
You can have a comic-only thread.
You can have a comic and tv thread. That's what this is to me (even though another has been created).

Obviously a number of posters in this thread want to talk about both the show and the comic. It has been going on since before the first episode. Why boot that talk out, when the comic was discussed here before the first episode was discussed?

I can see that being the case but it's difficult for me to imagine anyone over 10 years old (not joking) not able to control their thoughts and fingers (on the keyboard) like that. I watch plenty of movies that I've read books for. I don't sit there and squirm and yell out "Don't trust that guy!" or "Hey, Johnny didn't have a brother in the book!" I mean really, is it that difficult?

I don't think it is, but people are arguing about being able to, so I guess it is for some people.

Because that is the way it is. Take the comics talk to the other thread.

You're being a douche because you keep arguing a position that is clearly wrong AND has already been "ruled upon" by a mod in this thread.

Let it go.

Would you say over analyzing Lost helped in the letdown feeling at the end when it turned out most of it didn’t matter?

I would not know. I stopped watching at the beginning of the second-to-last season.

However, at the time, I did very much enjoy to analyzing while taking part and reading it.

I wish I had been here for that. My brother and I would go crazy tying everything together. Lost is the show that really got me into watching other shows in the right order as they appeared weekly (as opposed to years later re-runs).

She clearly stated that comic talk could stay in this thread with spoiler tags, and she probably wasn't aware there already was a TV-only thread.

Post in the tv-only thread if you want tv-only.

The key is simple.

If it has not been shown in the series yet, don't spoil it with POSSIBLE outcomes from the comic.

I was a show watcher for the first season and a half before I started reading the comic, and I did not mind the comic references SO LONG AS IT DID NOT SPOIL ANYTHING!

You could hint about Shane, or one of the big ones biting the bullet soon because that is the same thing AMC was making you feel like was happening soon. But saying anything more specifically, like "I wonder how they will handle Shane's death" or "Shane is still alive??!?" is just in poor taste.

When the show passes a certain point in time with the comic, then there is no spoiler. I have no problem with people saying "I liked how so-in-so behaved better here than there" so long as it does not get nit-picky.

Other points are 100% valid. READ the comic and see that the kid is actually a pretty strong character (at least through #14, where I am at). The wife is not a complete schitzo, and the lead knew about the pregnancy almost immediately instead of being absolutely oblivious for, what, weeks?

I think it is not saying that you need to keep the two perfectly aligned, but that there is much that can still be kept consistent between the two aside from just hair color and plot points that would really add a lot to the show.....

In the comics silver-pig pisses off motion man and motion man shoots silver pig and says "he turned into a zombie!".

Motion man is let off because he has awesome voice and a degree from Malibu's pepperoni school of stuffing law and because psychologically imposing people make great leaders.

I think I may be getting the comic, this thread and a book I once read confused though. It's probably because I haven't slept in a few days... maybe I wish this head-cold would go away. I Google'd pepperoni, because I can't spell the word.

Or you could not open this thread until the new episode airs where you are located? That's a bit ridiculous on your part.

I subscribe with e-mails.

It is less ridiculous for people to not comment until it has aired in the West.
