Yeah, it's the same thing Dailytech posted.

Orginally the X2-3800+ was planned for ~$170, now $149

Guess that makes sense, since Monarch is allowing combo builds where you can get an X2 3800+ for $149.

I wonder why dont they cut Opty 165 price as well ... Who is going to buy 165 if X2 3800 will be available for $149? I know Opty is a double cache size, but still ... It should cost around the same as X2 3800, or nobody buys it IMHO

I think you're absolutely right, though I seriously doubt it will happen.

I don't think the EE is going for that cheap - pre-cuts, it's about $415 - the only place I've found it available is some retailer in New Zealand that doesn't ship out of New Zealand.

I'll go look for a link...

EDIT: Okay.

First off Official Proof it Exists

Now, the Place in New Zealand that sells it - and even there they have no availability until July 26. Like I said - they don't ship outside New Zealand.

I was able to find one more place (probably new since I last looked) that sells it.

I'll also mention that when I google search the Processor, I get beaucoup hits on NCIX's website, but alas, they don't have it - misleading meta tags? I hope that helps!

I dont think they are cutting the cost of the optys to stop people like us from using them. They want to keep them more for workstations and servers than in desktops.

That's the X2-3800+ EE SFF 35W processor. It should be $230 or so after the price cuts go into effect.

That's what I would expect, too - check my edit up above, though.

They are quoting OEM Distributer pricing, so I expect the x2 3800+ to be about 160US when bought alone, cheaper when in combo with a motherboard.

Well for instance HERE

The s939 X2 3800+ has been cut by more than half, as it used to go for £270~.

I'm loving this because i still use a single core, when ever i require dual core, it will cost me pennies to upgrade. Obviously as when i need to.

Yeah but Monarch still wants too much for individual cpus right now. I'll wait to see NewEgg's prices on Monday. $320 for a 4800+ s939 is still about $50 too high.

Monarch is just trying to get a few impatient people to buy too early. They'll have to drop another $50 or more next week.

The 4600+ will be around $225, the 4200+ around $175. 4800+ for no more than $275 shipped and I might bite. $260 and I'm there.
