So which do you guys prefer Audioslave or RATM? Personally I gotta go with Cornell. I freaking love the guy he has amazing vocals. But he barely edges out Zach I like his voice as well.

I like both groups a lot, but RATM had a much harder edge to their music. Cornell writes wonderful lyrics, though.

RATM was cool in it's time, but I think now no one really cares about all the political crap Zach wrote about. Honestly, even while Rage was hot, I got tired of hearing about all the oppressed jungle natives in South America and out corrupt government in EVERY song. Sometimes I just wanted to rock out, without all the burdensome social outcry.

But I think Chris Cornell definitely has a better voice than Zach. Cornell can actually sing, and not just scream and rant.

It's a split decision for me. In terms of the message delivered in the music, the obvious answer is RATM. In terms of enjoyable music that I can listen to anytime, Audioslave no doubt.

Audioslave is one of the better things to happen to rock in a decade, but Rage was one of the most powerful bands of the 90's.

Don't get me wrong, I love RATM, but I can't always be pissed off when I listen to music, so I have to go with Audioslave.

I totally agree. RATM was an awesome band, but I never bought into Zach's hippie rebal bullsh!t social agenda.

I wish more bands would wake up to the fact that not all of their fans want to jump on their political bandwagon.

While I somewhat agree, hey, musicians are artists, they do what they want because they are expressing themselves. Why should they care?

Soundgarden>Audioslave>Rage Against the Machine (*)

*Theoretically, RATM should be the strongest. They are a rocking band
with socially conscious lyrics. The stuff that brought rock to new heights in the 60's.
Unfortunately, in practice, it just doesn't work for them. All their songs sound the same.
They stick to the formula tighter than a newborn baby that doesn't like to suck titties.
One song from RATM is probably better than Audioslave songs, and I'm sure a few Soundgarden ones.
But that's all you got, one song. Basically, their creativity level is weaker than my grandmother trying to do a chin-up.
