I agree Shred's units are his to do what he wants but I still think the whole system is fscked. Wish SETI1 was like BOINC is going to be and individual credit stays with the individual while team credit stays with the team.

Props to Shred for offering to leave his WU's here. That was a classy gesture. 🙂
 
I am absolutly appauled at the way the shrednine situation was handled by the team. if there is any worse way to send off a departing team mate I don't know of it. this is a black eye for the team and a loss of respect for the those that instagated the public flogging.

Engineer I would hope that you and I go a ways back, and I would have never expected this out of you.

NicColt, your also a long time team member that had my highest respect and today that respect has somewhat deminished.

Calling a fellow team mate a coward for switching to the team of their choice is dispicable, disgusting, inapropriate, and out right sick. this person had dedicated a large amount of time and computer resources to this team, our stats were higher because of him.

We know how this project works and we know that when team members come and go, their stats go with them. they own those blocks, I feel in this case, that he has the full right to do what he wants to with them, as that is how the system is designed.

in the end, you took away any chance of this member every coming back to the team, and made yourselves and the rest of the team look in negitive light.

it was a symatical mistake to use arsehales in the manner I did and I've edited the post hopefully to convey more clearly the intent of the phrase. (I love technical writing 203 😉 ) that it was a temporary dimming of the teams reflected brilliance and not a complete pooping of the team or team name. also understand that its not completely aimed at you or nicColt tho you are prominatly announced in the writing, but in a more general sense that when anybody reacts in a post that can be considered an attack on someone else that the perception of the team can possibly be tainted in perspective members / lurkers eyes. I also had not read the BBR thread until after I had unleashed my furry, and to be honest I belive I would have acted similarly. as engineer mentioned in a PM to me, Hind-sight is a beautiful thing. on top of that the internet can be a bit more forgiving then day to day interaction.

and with that, I turn off my soapbox switch and put on my rally hat and leave you with these words of advice.

At first, I was upset about the obnoxious behavior in the posts. SETI is bigger than any one team.

When I first read the thread over at BBR, I felt it was good-no flaming, etc.

I know the feeling. I will have had one day off in 27 before I get my next one off....and that's with no fewer than 10 hours per day (except Sunday of 8's). Still no real "excuse" of what was posted...but maybe part of the "reason" it was posted.
