Thanks to a machine that went down that is only supported by our French parent company, I am here babysitting their efforts to figure out wtf is wrong. The workers refuse to work past 5pm-France time, or 11am EST, to fix their problems, so we have to come in early to accomodate them. ACK!

Update: I'm here again, but now it's 2am. :(

No overtime, I'm salaried. :(

I do get the rest of the day off, though, :D but that's because I had already scheduled it. :(

Just be happy that it isn't summertime and the entire friggin country isn't on vacation. Speaking of which just what happens if that machine goes down and the entire office is out for vacation for a month like they traditionally do over there?

It's happened, trust me. :|

They run a skeleton crew over there and sometimes we can get in touch with one of them during their "holiday." The best is when everyone has their Out of Office on pointing to other people, and in the end it just loops back to the original person.

I think you need to offload that machine and purchase one that doesn't rely on support from the bloody French.

We are owned by them. :(

The best part is that they won't send us the CDs with the software, but they will use our dedicated 128kb ISDN line to transfer the contents of the CD.

Uh you have been at work for over 24 hours,?or do you mean your working
"midnights" again.

Are you geting O/T?
I had to work 26+ hours a few weeks ago,due to a snowstorm.

I am "on call" 24/7;although I can say no,if I am ill.

I hope your salary is high enough to compensate for this happening 6 times a year.
