I am looking at spending between $100 and $300. I just want something that is going to allow me to play new games for a few years and let me use 3D modeling programs with better performance. I also want something that lets me output to TV and I am planing on getting a camcoder but that will probably use firewire. I have a 32 MB Geforce 2 GTS now. cheaper is better because I am saving for the camcoder, but I need to have one that will give me the proper performance.

Well, for firewire, the only one on ATI's side I see is the 8500DV. Its older technology but has your firewire port. IMO, I'd go with a 9500 Pro for slightly under $180 or so, and if you're willing, the 9700 non pro at $199 at newegg which has double t he abndwidth and much better performance.

I just ordered the 9500 pro. Is it pretty future-proof (mainly HL2 and Deus Ex 2)? Also, does anyone have that and an 1800+?

Sorry, I already made another thread about this but no one posted.

9700 non-pro (sorry for forgetting to put the "non" infront of the pro) is pretty darn cheap now....199 (Best bang for buck IMO right now). The new NV35 has a value version that will 299 and most likely faster than the 9700 pro. FX5600 pro and 9500 pro are also good choices.

I have the same video card (geforce 2 GTS 32mb) and i'm planning on getting the geforce fx 5900 128mb. I bought the geforce 2 when it was $299 and it lasted for 5 years. =)
