I fixed up a Dell XPS One a few months ago. The owner already replaced it, so he said that I could keep it. Just took a new hard drive as he kept his old one with its data. I am giving it to my parents to use as a Media Center, and the only thing I am missing is a remote. Here are the details:
http://www.dell.com/us/dfh/p/xps-one-24/pd

I have been looking at remotes, and I thought this was my best resource to make sure I am getting something good. Here are my best finds so far:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...edia_center_remote-_-9SIA5RV2KT4048-_-Product
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...edia_center_remote-_-9SIA1HE0S20594-_-Product
http://www.amazon.com/Dell-RC1534034-00-Microsoft-RC6/dp/B0058DG18O

The top one is my favorite, and even though it is third party, the seller has good feedback.
I also like the middle one because it has good Newegg feedback, and the seller does as well. The Amazon one I am most hesitant on, as it is used and I have had bad luck with 3rd party from Amazon in the past.

So, I come to you guys. Maybe you can help me pick the best one, or find one that is even better.

Thank you in advance.

Edit: found one on ebay. We'll see how it goes.

I would like to have the remote and receiver. That device looks pretty neat though.

Thank you both. I played with the computer (including MC) a little bit, otherwise, Media Center is new to me (and about to be old to all of us anyway).

I think Internet Explorer for XP was a good example of that. Maybe we can make it work for MC too.

I use a "Generic" remote for my HTPC, that I got off of Amazon.com for like $9. It's totally PnP, with any Windows OS, probably Linux too. It emulates mouse + keyboard, comes with an IR reciever that plugs into any USB2.0 port.

It does have the annoying "feature", in the receiver, of detecting phantom keystrokes, and holding them down.

Where would I be, without my fellow forum veterans, who have the ingenuity to look for alternatives and make them available for my future reference and use?!
