Decided to flash my Optorite to the latest firmware 223. I had done this several times in windows with my Lite-on on the slave cable.

The whole flashing hanged at the end and I had to hard reset. Short story optorite drive is fine but Liteon drive is dead.

Symptoms.

I cannot boot with the liteon drive attached (master or slave) it just hangs at the press delete to enter cmos.

questions
1. where to get ultra newbie guide to blind flashing lite-on drives?
2. what flash progran to use and where do I get the proper firmware?
3. is it possible to even flash if it does not even get past the post?

I just want to save her as she had been a good soldier these past years.

Fixed my dead Liteon thanks to MTKFLASH

Had to do it in dos and for some reaon MTKFLASH took out my creative dvd rom which was on the master.

I was able to flash both drives using the appropriate firmware from the firmware page.

It was trial and error and I had to use a older version of MTKFLASH for it to flash my old creative dvdrom drive.

lesson learned

Do not flash drives in windows or if you really want to remove other drives

hope this helps someone
