Edit: Fixed
I just put this pc together from some new parts and some I"ve had, here's a list and parts that have been switched out with others.
ECS P4vxasd2+ with celeron 1.7 dvd,floppy, wd hd 120gb
512 samsung pc2700 ram (this is good ram, been running in my other pc for a couple months with no problems and no problems in this pc either. However I was running some cheaper ram I got from staples with infineon chips that have markings of their better pc 2100 chips, should be fine but it seemed to be causing problems. however that ram is working fine in this pc for a few days now so it's obviously not bad, but that mobo does not like it I guess.)
The Problem:
I installed winXP, then mandrake 9 dual booting. There are no problems in XP, I"m actually running Prime95 Torture test right now with no problems.
BUT
In mandrake I would loose my mouse and keyboard usually whenever I opened a program and resized the window or just had it open a few seconds or minutes, it always happened. Putting the pc into suspend mode via power button and bringing it back would also revive the mouse/keyboard. But this is not only a mandrake linux problem.
I also got the same freezing while trying to install Debian, and Redhat, same freezing.
I'm thinking it's a problem with the Mobo, both mouse/keyboard are on the PS/2 ports, going w/ a usb mouse did nothing. I"ve really been working on this a lot for the past few days and can't find any info about issues with this motherboard besides people not configuring jumpers properly. Not much else I can say, fire away with any questions. and yes I did check the md5 sums on every distro I tried to install and were fine, burnt at 4x to be safe.
