I need to RMA a hard drive, but Idon't have an acceptable box to ship it in.

I need a box that fits these packing guidelines.

What hard drive can I buy at Staples, OfficeMax or CompUSA that comes in a box like that?

Thanks :)

Edit: So I bought a 160GB Maxtor drive from CompUSA for $99 after rebate.

uhh, just do an advanced replacement RMA ...they'll ship you a new drive and you'll have like 2 weeks to ship your dead one back.. use the box they ship you.

yup thats what i did. its cheaper than paying $7-10 for them to send you packaging by not doing an advance RMA.

Ok, so I went to officemax and they were all sold out of that drive, so I went to CompUSA, and they had a deal on a 160GB maxtor drive at $99 after rebate, so I bought that.

I RMA'ed a HD to WD and they let me use a credit card to get a new one sent out to me, then I return the broken HD to them in their *approved packaging* then they credit my card back when they recieve my package. Best RMA service ever.

Why is everyone trying to liquidate their HDD stash??

I was wondering that too... lots of crazy deals right now

Anyone?

i noticed that newegg now has the serial ATA drives for sale, 120GB 7200 for $155 or 36GB 10K for $155

so my guess is that they are dumping the old ATA100/133 stuff in anticipation of people moving to serial ATA

maybe, i don't know of another reason, but it might be something else
