Last night myself and three friends went to go see Red Dragon... in the same town on the way to the movies.. we approach an intersection... we see a honda pull out from the side street normaly.. then suddenly see a car FLY through the interestion.. a clear red light... holy sh*t i think to myself.. hes going really fast in a 30 mph zone... just as he goes through the light he decides to go past the honda, scraping the whole left panel on the car.. after scraping him he nearly hit us.. but my friend jason was able to bearly get into the other lane in time.... we all turn around as he scrapes... he then suddenly hits a dirt ditch and flips his car several times... by the time it comes to a stop its almost again a tree and its on fire... we pulled over as fast as we could and went to see what happened... my friends all approach the burning car.... the car who got hit said they were all ok amazinly.. and i tryed to get away from it as soon as possible.. the fire got my intense though.. with six feet tall flames.. as people gather around :\ ... in literally 90 seconds there are like 5 volontare fire fighthers. We ended up leaving before the cops came.. i figured they were ok and there were enough people around to take care of it

Long story short.... dont speed through interesections...

Speeding wasn't the reason for the wreck. Driving while stupid is the reason.

it's very possible to drive safely while speeding, but you have to have some common sense and realize that you have to at least look ahead before burying your foot on the accelerator pedal.

Driving safe is most important. There are times that 100mph is a suitible speed, and there are times that 15mph is too fast. I feel that speed limits are absurd in that they imply that anywhere on that stretch of road it is OK to go that speed. They also dictate that the maximum safe speed on a road is the same for long stretches.

Speeding through red lights is stupid. Driving faster than the posted limit when conditions permit is not.

I think the thread title should be changed to "This is why you shouldn't run stale red lights.." as the current title is misleading.

You really should contact the police in case of a injury caused by the moron. The other party might be up sh ts creek with out a good witness.;)

everyone was fine... the car that got hit just got scraped... as soon as we approached we offered to call 911 on our cell phones but they had already taken care of it they said.. we asked if everyone was ok and they said that they were fine.. including the driver on the flipped car... thats really luckly.. they must have been going 70 maybe in a 30... i figured that they would need us... but they knew we were the only real witnesses and acted like they didnt need us.. too bad for them... we did everything we could and tryed to help... at first i thought the car was a SUV luckly it was a smaller car with a much smaller gas tank... its was really wierd to see something happen to you so close and so fast..

Damn. Poor guy.. kinda funny to picture it in your head though. Some car just going WIM! past you and flipping over several times. heh.. I'm glad they're okay. Maybe they learned their lesson.

No, speeding is not inherently dangerous. Speeding stupidly IS.

you just contradicted your previous post that speeding is stupid to begin with. according to this post, if everyone is speeding at 15 over, then you should too.

Which is it?

stale red light, as opposed to a yellow turning red and passing through it.
