I know that most motherboards have 2 EDI connectors one is for the hard drive and the other is for The Cd Drive and Burner....I have a VPR Matrix and I think I have 2 extras at the lower area of the motherboard....But When I try to connect a drive to it its not being recognized when I start my pc....

The Lower Part of the motherboard also has USB connectors those use to work but it recently stopped...I asked the ppl at Best Buy and the guy said that I might have to enable it thru my BIOS settings...the thing is I dont know how to do that...

My Questions are..is there more than 2 EDI connectors on most motherboards? And if so How Do I Enable it to work thru Bios??

K, they're actually called IDE (Integrated Device Electronic) connectors. I've never even heard of your mobo, but the two at the bottom are probably RAID (redundant array of inexpensive disks) connectors. Only some mobos have IDE RAID connectors, you usuualy find them on "deluxe" or "premium" versions of some boards. Anyways, to enable your raid connectors and usb connectors...when you computer restarts, you should see something that says "Press Delete to enter Setup". It might be F1, or F2...It'll tell you. If it doesn't say that, but a picture displays when you reboot, press delete when either the sign or picture displays. You should be in Setup - where you can configure your bios. Inside the BIOS (basic input/output system), use your arrow keys to move around and find where it says something about raid device/controller and then select enable. For usb,. repeat the above, but look for something that says usb. You can also got to your mobo's manufacturer and they should have instructions on how do do various things in the bios.

Oh, and take whatever Worst Buy says, with a grain of salt...they don't always know what they're doing.

Good luck :)

No problem :).
Oh, and how many hard drives are you planning on running? If only one, then it's not generally a good idea to run it off a raid controller. Windows XP has issues with it...like, for example, you'll be playing a round of Starcraft...levelling a Zerg base with 18 Battlecruisers...and all of a sudden...BSOD!!! (blue screen of death).

OTOH, if you have two drives and one is only used for storing data, then putting it on the raid channel can be a good idea. The reason is that if you have two drives on one channel, and they wanna transfer data, one of them cand send/receive data at a time, so transfer times will suffer. So, the way my comp is set up, my Windows drive is primary on channel 0, and my data drive is primary on my first raid channel.
