Eddie Bauer Store Closing Clearance Sale Nationwide

Just went into my local Eddie Bauer store yesterday and they are closing up (Pittsburgh, PA - N. Hills). Decent prices on most things (30-50%off clearance). I bought jeans and pants for $12/each. The sales rep says they are closing about 60 stores nationwide. The stores will be gone sometime in August. I assume the sale will only get better as time goes on.

Last time I went to an Eddie Bauer, it looked more like the "Big Lots" of clothing / outdoor stores. It was really sad.

So dumb... most of their nicer clothes weren't in the stores. They were either online or in the catalogs since they tended to be imported clothing. Oh well... so is this a hot deal worth going to an EB store for?

masterxfob, I do not believe it will hurt your chances of getting refund. Some stores are remaining open. When I bought articles the cashier used a marker and blacked out an area on the Eddie Bauer tag (on each item) to show that it was bought at a closing store - thus no refunds or exchanges. As long as you don't have this mark, returns shouldn't be a problem.

got a real nice fleece from the one at arundel mills mall in hanover, md. lots of big time sales there. it's the outlet store and not on store closing clearance but whatever.

the one at white flint mall has 30-50% off everything going out of business sale though.

Might have to hit White Flint then and see if any of the stuff already picked over is worth buying.

So, you mean $32 after the 30% off?

Also, any links that show what stores are closing?

This is too bad. I rather liked Eddie Bauer.
They should have stayed strictly mail/catalog business.
I guess I'll check out the South Coast store.

Bump

Wife and I went to the mall yesterday, I strolled into Eddie Bauer and walked out with two nice $14.99 Pique Polo Shirts.

Thanks!

The business school hotshots watered Eddie Bauer down to nil. I remember when there was the ONE AND ONLY Eddie Bauer in Seattle. People (including myself) used to come from all over the country for their Labor Day clearance sale. Then when they went mail order (before they went Internet) and started opening a chain of stores, I noticed that clothing I had ordered was "made in China" and not at all the quality I expected. I stopped buying Eddie Bauer.

The MBAs have done the same thing to Brooks Brothers. I'm sure you can think of more examples.
