*bump* have been trying to find a cheap replacement mobo for awhile. This one supports DDR and SDRAM! Thanks.

Yes, it does have free shipping.

My Newegg refurb Abit KR7A-RAID has been going 24/7 since I bought it a couple months ago. No problems at all and I wouldn't hesitate buying another from them.

Buying refurbs from Newegg always involves some risks, but you do have 30-day to return them. So don't buy them just because they are cheap, always make sure you have at least two weeks to fully test them.

Be prepared to eat shipping back to them when buying the refurbs...always be prepared too..
Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose...if you want a warranty with your board DO NOT BUY REFURBS.
You have a 30 day warranty. Keep that IN MIND.
:D
Sometimes it's worth the extra 30.00 on a refurb mobo...

and sometimes, alot of the time, it costs you $10 to get a refund.

i have at least a 70% failure rate with the refurb items, and I have to pay shipping Back to get a refund.

it's like the friggin' lottery... only at $10 a shot to maybe save $20 it's hardly worth no warranty!

When did they stop reimbursing return shipping on DOA refurbs?!? I had one last Fall...I'm giving it another shot this time around ;)

I can see getting a K7S5A if you REALLY want to reuse your PC133 memory yet someday want to scrap it for DDR memory, but otherwise, why would someone want a refurbed $60 motherboard for $35 when they could instead get a refurbed $120 motherboard for $35-40? It's entirely possible to run a K7S5A without problems, but even when they're new, you're taking more of a risk.

Also, have any of you tried to get support for PCChips et al motherboards? For years their own website wasn't fully functional 70+% of the time, couldn't even download the drivers/BIOS etc. I admit that PCChips quality is way better than it used to be, but still not anywhere near convinced that it rivals the other better-known name brands.

As for the Newegg refurbs, I've had good luck with them, my experience has been that it's more likely to get shipped the wrong part, than a dead part. When the wrong parts were shipped, they were typically better than the ordered part, so it seemed like an out-of-stock-mixup-substitution, just a bit unsettling that there was no chance to accept/refuse the substitution prior to shipment.

I always liked the fact that the K7S5A had integrated sound and lan. Sure the sound is not great, but it works until you can find a deal on a killer soundcard. And the lan works great, leaving 5 pci slots open. Plus, the board seems really stable. And brand new, they only cost $60 plus the savings on the ethernet card and potential savings on the sound. I'm happy with my purchase.

becuz a good motherboard is a good motherboard, regardless of price. i like the 7ks5a becuz it's does not have a via chipset & becuz it has onboard lan. also, supporting both sdr & ddr gives it the flexibility to be a low-end or mid-range pc part.

Back in stock, for now.

Will this board fit inside a microATX case? Dumb question since I have the K7S5A right now, but I can't tell from looking at it. I wanted to replace the wacky KT133 mobo inside my parents' computer back home.

I feel like I just got swindled a couple hundred dollars.

If I was a swearing man, I'd be cursing ATHD.

Then again, I also wouldn't be getting a new video card, motherboard, case, power supply, and Kingston DDR Ram.

:D

great price, but i've had to return two of these mobo's (non-refurbs) becuase they just decided to not work randomly.

i used all the same parts (cpu, graphics card, RAM) on a Abit KR7A, and it's been running perfectly.

just a heads up.
