Has anyone in the United States bought the ECS SiS 755-A2 motherboard?

I cannot find it anywhere, being tha the 755-A is obsolete now, I'm not going to settle for less.

rofl shiftomnimega....

I just saw an article on this site about the AOpen AK86-L, which has three DIMM slots. The only down side to the ECS SiS 755-A/755-A2 is that they only have two slots for RAM, limitting my upgradability.

It's annoying trying to buy something you'd be satisfied with, then the week after something better is out.

That's it, I'm gonna buy the AOpen and hide in a hole.

You can only run 3 DIMMs if you want DDR333. Just an FYI.

Yeah, sux don't it?

This is just how my k7s6a is... at lower speeds it could run w/3 sticks of ram but at 333 it could onlly run with 2 sticks.

As the review said ECS saved themselves alot of tech support by only incluing 2 dimm slots.

Once again the reminder: The DDR RAM specs are like that. In fact, this is a general thing about circuit design: The higher the load (read: chip count) on the bus, the lower the achievable speed.

DDR333 isn't supposed to be running with more than two sticks.

That may be me coming in behind you.

There's a lot of breath being held in anticipation of the nForce3 250. A lot of people are waiting for Socket 939. AnandTech, reporting from CES last month, expressed surprise that the first nForce3 250 boards shown were Socket 754 boards. We've heard nothing of nForce3 250 since then, which makes me wonder if the mobo manufacturers haven't decided to wait for Socket 939 after all.

We've yet to see a reliable SiS 755 board. According to "the world's largest motherboard manufacturer," the dog ate their homework on that.

At this point, for the sake of getting some work done, an $83 (after rebate) board looks like a cheap rental. It should last at least as long as it takes the dust to settle after the current round of vaporware actually arrives.

My goodness, all this is true torture. So, I suppose it's wiser to wait around the 2nd-3rd Quarter?
