I have one & it's the older & better rev. 1.1 not the crappier newer revisions (which took out the southbridge heatsink and some other components off the PBC to save some $). It was running 200mhz FSB with the XP2500+ that I used to have. I was using it on my server with a milder cpu and it didn't crash once in 3 months. Since I'm not running the sever anymore, I may puting it up for sale shortly.

GREAT cheap board. I think they have a newwer one out by now that uses the 748 chipset.

But this board is fast and cheap. The onboard sound is pretty good, c-media.

They do, it's called 748-A, and other than for the newer chipset, it's practically identical to the L7S7A2.

I just purchased one of these and I'm having trouble with it.

I'm hoping someone can help me here....

I put together a new system with this board and I can't boot it.
The BIOS says:

AMD XP1900
Checing NVRAM...

and it ijust hangs at this point.

The bios is AMI version from 2/27/03

The configuration is:

L7S7A2 MB
XP 2500 (333 FSB) (board detects it at wrong speed, but I know I can reset it if I can ever get to the bios setup)
256 meg Crucial ddr 2700 mem
seagate barracuda 40gb hd
ausus geforce mx400 agp vid
antec case w/ 350 watt true power.

I'm going to try swapping memory with another machine I have to tdetermine if the memory is bad, but maybe someone has a solution I can try before that?

I've already tried resetting the CMOS and reseating the memory and IDE cables. No luck.

Take ram out and reseat it in another slot. If not try another slab. Sounds like a Ram problem.

Hardly. At that point it's waiting for the IDE drives to come online. Check cables, jumpers and connectors.

It's working now.
I was originally setting it up at the office and decided to bring it home to work on it.
I drove home and tried it again and it works.
I guess something must have been loose and the drive home reseated it.

Doh!
It's not working.
I had it running a few days ago and I installed windows XP and a few other things. I got some errors on the cd drive which is old, so I just picked up a new drive. Now the machine won't boot.
Same problem as before. Hangs on the bios "checking NVRAM..." - it never even gets to the point where it check system mem, not even a beep.
I put some mem from a working system in it and it still won't boot, so it looks like a motherboard problem.

I'm dissapointed with ECS. They have zero support. The user manual has no trouble shooting nor does their website. I submitted a support request on their website, but they did not respond.

I guess I'll have to RMA the board. That's a bummer because I'll have to pay for shipping.

(oh, and btw, I have already tried swapping all the ide cables as well as drives with ones that I know are good).
