Hi, does anyone try to run a 512MB DDR400 ram on a ECS L4S8A2 motherboard?
Is it stable?
Any comment is welcome =)

Hi, I have an ECS L4S8A2

the thing you have to be careful of is..

- if you use only 1 memory slot, you can run at ddr400 speeds
- if you use 2 memory slots, you can only run at ddr333
- and if you use all 3 slots, you can only run at ddr266 (I found myself having to go down to ddr200 speeds to be stable)

you probably already know that though, since you are talking about 1 stick of ddr400 memory

all I know is that in my personal experience, running 2 sticks at ddr333 worked perfect, and running 3 at ddr200 worked.. for some reason running 3 sticks at ddr266 was giving me problems

I'll try to help u as much as I can.. Not many ppl have this board it seems (or at least they dont post on here), so we use all the help we can get.

This is a generic limitation. DDR400 cannot work reliably with more than one DIMM, neither does DDR333 with more than two. Three DIMMs is still marginal at DDR266 speed, requiring really good DIMMs.

Wasn't you the one where we found after a week of inquiry that the LAN controller was actually perfectly working, that you just couldn't figure out how to set up your IP and routing correctly?

Quit blaming the hardware. Please.

peter.. i am doing my best to get it to work. i am not good at setting it up obviously and i tried to provide all available screenshots and info so that someone could help me to get it work. Yes the hardware works, i hope you feel special. Now, if you are done "helping" me, and i hope you are, please allow me to attempt to receive help from other persons.

edit - i did not blame the hardware this time. frankly i dont care what the cause of the problem is.. if it's settings in windows that are off, then i want to know how to fix THAT. I appeal only for help, my first diagnosis was incorrect that's all. If you give me another snooty comment, i'm going to call you an ***hole.

Any follow ups? Did the 400 work?

Running 2 x 512MB of crucial dr333, works like a charm
