GOT THIS MOTHERBOARD BY ECS - K7VTA3, but I heard that these boards are great when work, but sucks big time if it doesn't work. Could someone help me w/ this. I never work AMD board before, I would assume it the same as my Intel. Got this board, because the prev. owner didn't want it brand new. I think it would be allright for me put in Corsair pc3200 512 in this fsb 333 board, right?

Please give me some feedback. Maybe a spec for building a system under $200

All I have is a motherboard and possibly ram. If i use that Corsair on this ghetto board, then I would need to get some xms, ballstix or hyperx for my other heatware.

Thanks.

This board should work with just about any memory. But it can be picky about the power supply and video card. I would only use an nvidia agp 4x card, and name brand power supply, such as sparkle (fortron), antec, or enermax. Enlight is also ok. This board has no voltage adjustments for overclocking, just 2 jumpers to set.

Sorry to say that mobo only supports PC2700, I have the same thing and recently sold mine because of the bad sensors for tempature cas reading, and because I had PC3200. I would suggest going nforce 2, you will see ALOT more performance for AMD with nforce 2. I would go with one of fry's ECS and AMD comobo's, sell the mobo and get an nofrce. Just not ECS brand!

The board can't go faster than 166 MHz (PC2700), but you can use PC3200 RAM for this anyway.

There is a KT400(A) version of the exact same board, L7VTA2, with 200 MHz FSB and RAM support.

If you're going to build a cheap box, I suggest you get solid standard-spec RAM and a low-clocked Sempron to go with this board. The board itself is good, most people who think theirs is DOA make stupid mistakes, like not inserting the RAM all the way, forgetting to move the CMOS Clear jumper to Normal position, plugging the CPU fan into the wrong header, etc. etc.
