Got the fry's 1800 duron / ECS combo. Installed MB/Proc/GF4Mx440/PC3200 Mushkin and can't get it to post. No beeps. Switched out Processor to duron 600, video card to GF4 ti4200, and memory to pc3200 Corsair one at a time and still no post. Reset bios, switched jumpers back down to 100Mhz FSB and no luck. Read a post on another forum with 2 people having the same problem but no luck so far. One guy has even swapped the MB with Frys 5 times and still the same problem. Probably overlooking something simple here. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Do you have an RPM-sensing fan plugged into the three-wire CPU-fan header on the board? Some boards won't POST without an RPM signal on that header. ECS hasn't been the routine offender in this area (that award goes to Soyo) but you never know. The board's manual may say, if it is.

Also confirm that the stepped end of the heatsink is toward the raised end of the CPU socket, or the heatsink won't land flat on the CPU core and then you're in for an instant-overheat situation.

Beyond that, make sure the AGP card is all the way down into both layers of contacts in the AGP slot, that you have a respectable power supply to make it all go, and that you've threatened the mobo with physical violence. They fear water and high-voltage shocks, if you need ideas. ;) Good luck!

I'll try the rpm sensing. Not setup at this time for that. The heatsink is oriented correctly. I'll update with the results.

Thanks

Have you rechecked the obvious? i.e. CMOS jumper not set to the clear position...sometimes ECS MB's come set that way in the first place. Same with the system panel connections, sometimes the "PWR LED" one needs to be modified...you might want to disconnect all but the power connector and see if it POSTs. Cable orientation, etc. Oh and unplug the PSU and maybe the ATX connector before clearing CMOS. Goodluck. :) Edit: changed the IDE to power LED.

Tried the above. Also swapped out the battery and tried a GF3 ti200. Still no luck. Sounds dead to me. Any other suggestions before I take it back. thanks!
