ECS K7VTA3-RAID & ATI wonder 8500DV problems

I just got this combo and the motherboard won't recognize the ATI card. I swapped in another card and it worked no problem.

Is there an issue between this mborad and video card? I updataed the mboard bios without effect.

did you try the card on another computer to make sure the card isnt the problem?

and did you plug in the extra power connector for the card?

yes, in fact I'm using it with a different motherboard right now.

it's not connected, but it says that's optional. i can't see why that would make such a difference. I didn't even have any firewire devices connected when I tested the machine out.

i sent an email in to ECS. I doubt they'll respond anytime soon.

Was the old video card an Nvidia card ? Is the OS install from scratch ? Old Nvidia drivers hanging around can do all sorts of strange things to your config.

No previous Nvidia drivers on the system. Besides, the system doesn't even get to that point, nothing makes it to the screen. I know the board has a problem with the video card because of the beep codes.

FYI,

the firewire port on the ATI card needs to be disabled.
