First: I have this motherboard and a barton 2500 from the Fry's special ($70 for both, the motherboard was sort of a freebee) I can;t get 3d to work over 184 FSB. My other 2500 is on a A7N8x deluxe, at 191 FSB. Is this due to nforce2 haveing AGP lock ? Then I ordered "MB NFORCE 2 SPP M7NCD PRO BIOSTAR R" refurb from newegg to replace the ECS K7VTA3 (since it is also nforce2) I posted in motherboard forums and got no response to this, and since there are several factor in hardware (motherboard, video, OC settings) I thought it would be OK to post in general hardware.

Edit: Video card is a radeon 9800pro, memory is one stick of Geil 3200 2-2-2-6, and the other is a Hyperx PC3500 CAS 2-3-3-6, each 512 meg.

Please let me know your thoughts on all these things, and do you think the new M7NCD will hit 191 ?

I have tried in three different forums ! Please somebody ?????

The K7VTA3 is a VIA chipset, not a nForce2. I currently have a K7VTA3 V2.0 with a KT266A Chipset.

For more information on your motherboard click here.

I know that one is via and one is nforce2. The question is is the failure of OC'ing due to the fact that ALL nforce2 motherboards have AGP lock, and ALL via do not ? or is it just the A7N8X that has a lock ? or is it something else ?

I have a ECS K7VTA3 V6.0 with the KT333CE chipset (also a Fry's special). For some odd reason it only allows 1x and 2x AGP. But the manual says it supports AGP 4X.

Does yours also only support 2x AGP?

Nope, I get 4x, and with a 2500 at 183 fsb, and a radeon 9800pro, I get 4485 on 3dmark03. My 9700pro on a barton 2500 at 192 fsb on a A7N8X get 4990 !
