I have an ECS (Elite Computer Systems) K7VTA3, v6.0, in which I've been running an ATI Radeon 7200 All-in-wonder successfully. I wanted to upgrade, and picked up an ATI Radeon 9550. Upon installing, I can't get any display, nor even the beep that usually sounds on POST.
The motherboard is supposedly AGP 2.0, 1.5v compatible, even though it's only 4x. I thought that 8x cards were supposed to work in 4x slots. Is this wrong? Are there other compatibility issues?
The BIOS has an AGP Driving Control entry, currently set to AUTO. If I set it to manual, I then get to enter a Driving Value, which is a two digit hex value - but I can't find anything about it, and have no idea whether changing this would have any effect.
There is no onboard video on the motherboard, and I've had no problems, as far as the motehrboard is concerned, with the 7200 card (which is why I decided to stick with ATI). The motherboard is only two years old, so I thought a low end (i.e. old) video card would work.
Many thanks,
Gary
